Exploring Korea in Winter (Part 4)

Here comes the day four of my Korea Trip,
and you never will be able to guess what they planned in for us for this day – and it's FACIAL!
Well, I got really excited for this because I have never expected myself to be doing facial in another country,
and furthermore, facial = walking out with bareface & red spots!! heh
And for this time, it's not walking out and heading home to hide,  but it was facing 20 odd new strangers hahahah
Anycase, it was not as bad as i thought, I'll elaborate later!

We started off with a breakfast at our resort,
and halfway through our meal, it begun to snow!
I could see some of us instantly trying to gobble down the food in due to head out for snowy pictures, including myself, Geez

this was the view i had when i entered, not snowing yet..

And then we headed outside, you can see the white snow in this picture!

And we do have the really-freezing-but-trying-to-post-cool-and-good-for-the-pictures look, don't we? heh

my gloves was in the luggage, and I think after this shot i was thinking in my head, " why did i even put my hand out -.-"

Time to bid farewell to our lovely resort once again, we are heading back to Seoul today!

The second part of the day was pretty interesting,
we got to visit the filming set of the famous Korea dynasty drama, Dong Yi (同伊, 동이) and it was such an eye-opener.
We had quite a drive into this area (Yong-in MBC drama set) that has absolutely no sight of any city buildings,
and it seemed as though we were kinda in a rural part, peaceful and quiet.

It was just amazing, you feel as though you are living in another country, and it felt pretty surreal to mel!!
The only thing that i kinda regretted was not watching the show before i came here in fact,
i would really appreciate it a 101% more than I went (though i was already very impressed by the place)! ;(

Us dropping off, looked sunny, but we were freezing!

snap shots printed along the way, those were snap shots of scenes of shows filmed here before.

Yes, us walking towards the set, that's just a glimpse of the place!

a good background for a group shot

and this was the entire group of us, from 5 different countries!

as you can see, once we head up, it's gonna be another world!

here we were!

This place just totally blew me off with its architecture and probably just how the whole area cum its location..

spot no cities at all, and the woman in purple at top is fiona, we are all heading up for a better view.

And this was the exact view upon standing right at where Fiona stood. Amazing isn't it?
Completely like a whole new world, i'm just lacking of the appropriate outfit that's all heh.

We walked furtherdown to another part,
and here was the famous filming ground with a good view of the palace.

this is the screenshot of one of the scenes in Dong Yi,  the best i can find.

WEEE! I was here too!! *star-place struck*

the main actor for the show, which i heard he has a good man role in it, no wonder Caitrin loves him so much! ;p

and this! another scene..

I was here too!! Just that it was another room with a different setting. hehehe.

So yes, i'm gonna start watching Dong Yi!!
Read the synopsis and saw clips of it at youtube, seems like a pretty good show with a great story line and stunning actors/actresses.
And hope i'm able to relive the memory of my trip! teehee

*

After having the palace tour, we headed to this cosy lil restaurant named San Chae Chon,
and it was a lunch particularly introducing mountain vegetables, and we tried a pretty good range of vegetables cooked in different ways.

Lunch after was a visit to KINTEX, which is Korea International Exhibition area (something like our Singapore Suntec City Convention),
and our trip was planned to coincide with one of the annual biggest tradeshows – Gyeonggi International Travel Mart.
Glad to have the opportunity to attend a tradeshow there,
and the way they organised it was pretty similar, just that they had really interesting activities for us to do at many of the little booths.

Took a shot with the tradeshow girl!
They all look so gracious and demure and i think Singapore's tradeshow should hire such girls in fact,
i bet it will draw a larger crowd! heh

one of the booths that i had joy sitting at, we got to design our own rice cake!

everything can be eaten.

'

MY DESIGN – a bed of roses!
spent 100% concentration on that 10 minutes on this, so proud of it!!:p

And this is a famous rice wine in Korea, that is supposedly nicer and milder than Soju.
Best thing is that it's not expensive too, less than SGD$5 if im not wrong, should try this than soju!
Think the koreans pronounce this as "Bar-car-li"

caught these two korean lil kids talking, so adorable!

And we were done, went off with a bag of souvenirs, and a polariod of ourselves!

spotted riot on the way back, and it was for Hyundai actually,
heard it was about Hyundai retrenching their workers. ;\

And here comes the FACIAL!
We went to this place named the Skin Anniversary, one of korea's largest beauty corporations,
and i think it's something like Jean Yip in Singapore
It has a range of makeup services, facial etc, plus i heard a lot of famous korean artistes go there for facial too!

the wall of fame, signed by those who patronized the store!

RAIN!!!!

can't remember her name, but she's gorgeous!!

so professional and so cool, they were standing behind each screen waiting for us to do our scans.

And the facial room

Well, no pictures were taken during the facial, but it was sooooooooooo comfortable & relaxing!
To be honest, I think our facial here is pretty on par with their standard (i mean afterall, they are known for beauty and such),
and probably because it's a big group, they didn't really do extraction for us, more on massage.
The only thing that i think Singapore's beauty parlour for facial should improve to make it the best,
is to incorporate a longer facial massage whenever we girls go for our session!
I think that would really make the session so much more look-forward to, and much more comfortable, don't you think so?!
Please say yes, and I hope some facial place (in particular my facial place) might happen to chance that you readers agree with that,
and help incorporate that into the session in future, hahahaha :p

And, I think they put BB cream at the last step and that was why my skin looked ready for heading out though it was bare,
but guess what?
They had make up services at the ground floor and make up artist to beautify us!

it was pretty hilarious, cuz i think she was asking what kinda make up i want (in korean and sign language),
so i didn't know how to answer, and saw this Kim Tae Hee poster above me.
Well, she's a super famous star there so i took the easiest way,  just pointed to her that and said "Kim Tae Hee's make up". Jeez.

Ahhh, didn't manage to take a shot of myself after the make up,
but it was nice!! very natural and i'm trying to refresh her makeup techniques in my head ever since i got back,
and use it for my make up days too. heh

Anyways, the facial was awesome, and i really enjoyed it,
you can try it if you head there too, just have to book an appointment in advance! :)

*

By the time we ended facial (which took about one half hour),
we were in fact back in Seoul already, so we headed to the city Myeong dong in due for a good dinner at Bulgogi Brothers (불고기브라더스)!
The guide mentioned that it's a famous chain in Korea,
and always full-house!

Yeap! known for the beef, and yes, it's a MUST-TRY in Korea!
Excellent tasting marinated beef i must say, the taste is just different and kinda sweet, but two thumbs up for it!

Last but not least,
if you recognise this building, yes, it's opposite doota!
And we are at Dongdaemun area- the famous shopping district <3

Definitely a place for clothes, and though MyeongDong has more beauty outlets,
but you can still find them at Dongdaemun area, and it's pretty accessible via the subway! ;)

Tha's all for Day 4, folks!
Will continue for the next day again ;)

Exploring Korea in Winter (Part 3)

I got myself a set of different jewelry (earring & necklace) from Tangem a week back and this time,
it's from the New Avant Garde Range which was specially flown in from New York!

If you arent familiar with the Avant Garde term,
it basically refers to people or works that are experimental or innovative, particularly with respect to art, culture, and politics. (taken from wiki).
Which also means somewhat more modernized and creative,
and these are translated into Tangem's Jewelry designs!

And just for you readers specially, Tangem is having a Storewide 20% Discount (till 6 Feb 2012 only) to welcome the year 2012! :)
Simply just type in  ' BT20  ' at checkout to enjoy this discount.
Not only that, they do have a great customer service care- they will arrange a Next Working Day delivery by AM Post right to your post boxes! :)

From Tangem's Avant Garde Range, this pair of Celebration Crown Earrings is looking exquisite with it's detailing (more pics below),
and you can see the crown shape design is crafted beautifully and elegantly.
*Celebration Crown Earrings, $ 26.32 after discount  (U.P. $ 32.90)

To match it up with the pair of earrings, I got another Summit Pendant and Necklace Set from the Avant Garde Range too,
and it's looking beautiful! A tad like a bow shape, but the crystal detailing in the middle is looking gorgeous.
There is also a matching pair of Earrings that goes nicely with this Pendant and Necklace Set.
*Summit Pendant and Necklace Set, after discount $27.92 (U.P. $ 34.90)

This is another of my favourite from the exclusive Avant Garde series – Adore Pendant & Necklace Set!
and Tangem is doing a giveaway of this!
To stand a chance to win this, just Like them Here from now till 6 Feb 21012!
Winner will be announced on 7th Feb (you can wear it just in time for Valentine's day!)

Well, i am aware that Chicken Rice is a signature dish of Singaporeans but I try not to have that as often,
and finally one day last week, it was my very FIRST time trying Boon Tong Kee Chicken Rice!

I know I know, mountain tortoise you may say, cuz everyone around me just gets pretty shocked to know that I haven tasted our own local flavour.
Not sure if it's a good thing, cuz it's good and i'm starting to crave for chicken rice now and the first I would think is BTK. *boohoo*
Anyways, what I like about BTK is the other dishes as well, especially the tofu, vegetables and this prawn cake thingy. Thumbs up!

Wearing a lovely dress from Fairebelle in dusty pink (my favourite shade of pink!),
and very flattering cut, this could absolutely hide my tummy well! :p

yima is back in town!

The group and I met up for a dinner at our usual place, and it was planned for our dear Kai Min's birthday!
Hope she was surprised by us and enjoyed the night together. :)

Here's another lovely girl-next-door dress from Fairebelle,
you will love the fit and the embroidery design at the top part as well as the end of the skirt.

Here's another outfit of the week and it's my favourite of all!

Love this navy scallop blazer from Fairebelle, and quality is commendable! :)
Simply goes well with just a simple dress of mine. <3

and if you are looking at the shoes, hehehe, i just can't stop getting shoes from Xquisis,
loving every single design i received from them!

KOREA DAY 3

The third day in Korea started out with a hearty international breakfast at the hotel.
It was a perfect night because holiday inn resort at Alpensia resort is truly amazing,
the bed and everything was just so comfortable.

just one snapshot of the breakfast food!

I suppose we were all quite reluctant to leave but at the same time,
i'm looking forward to the next because based on the itinerary,
we were gonna be doing hot spa in winter!

A few snapshots before we left.. for keepsake!

Goodbye alpensia, i'll be back!

Our next stop was about a few hours drive from the place,
and on the way, there was an attraction that we were recommended to see.
It was none other than the Wojeongsal Temple and the Needle fir Forest Trail and pictures below would show you how beautiful the place is.

First stop was the temple.

My new friend from Thailand!

and the lovely Nan, a senior newspaper reporter in thaliand, who takes amazing pictures! :)

taken by nan :)

my vietnam friend! :)

and my fellow singaporean friend, Caitrin and Mrs Park from Korea :)

We moved on to the other side for a forest trail.

Fiona and mam, the awesome ladies!

With Caitrin looking adorable with her hot pink muffles!

and my new friend from Jakarta.
Coolbeans, i have (minimal) international friends now. :p

We had a good an hour there exploring the place and enjoying the scenery.
A friend from Malaysia introduced this banana milk drink from Korea and it's pretty famous there,
sold everywhere in their GS25 (something like 7-11 store) and it's pretty tasty!

Thank you for KTO (Korean Tourism Organization) for bringing us to experience different activities in Korea,
and next up was equally fun- Making bibimbap!
Given that that's one of my favourite korean dishes. ;)

The restaurant, Jung Gang Won, was equally amazing and it's located at quiet place with beautiful scenery all around..

Our bibimbap shifu!

oh yes, that's a huge bowl and it does need quite some strength to mix!

my satisfied meal. :)

We travelled for another hour or so before we reached our destination- Konjiam Resort,
which is our hotel and also the Hot Spa place!

In fact, I also saw a skiing ground there.
So for those who love to do both hot spa and skiing, perhaps this might be a good destination!

my room! :)
They are definitely very generous again, this room is good for even 3-4 pax!

love these multi-functions toilet seats. hee

We rested for a while before the group got sub-divided into two:
1) for spa
2) for a forest walk

So for myself, i decided to try the Hot Spa instead, given that i have never tried doing one in Winter!

The experience was awesome!!!

The pool was indoor, but there was a jacuzzi hot spa pool outdoor,
whereby we were soaking in a pool with the weather being 0 degrees!
We had another two sauna rooms to enjoy- the Hay room (which is laying on hay literally) and the pebbles room (yes, literally lying on pebbles!).
Didn't manage to capture any good shot in these two rooms as they were too dark,
but all in all, you should try them too if you go to Korea! :)

And evening came, time just flew passed.
A shot beautifully taken by Nan during the forest walk… how i wish i could do both!

Last but not least, Dinner time!! :)
This time round, KTO arranged for us to try BBQ DUCK- thumbs up for this!
Absolutely one of my favourite meals during the trip.

Restaurant Name: To Dam

Looks yummy huh? it's sesame soup!

These sum up the end of Day 3, and how fast these three days went by.
The next entry would be back to the City, and I suppose that will get you guys excited as well as we dropped by some of the most popular shopping areas.
Be back soon! :)

Exploring Korea In Winter (Part 2)

January marks the start of new beginnings,
and I hope this year will be smoother than last year!
It wasn't a total smooth year but I still wouldn't much complain or regret anything because things do happen for a reason,
Things that don't break us make us stronger, mistakes happened and we learn from them & move forward,
and all these just makes us better than the year before, definitely one year wiser and yes, i have my new list of new year resolutions!
For all that's worth, the 2011 year still no doubt has a few surprises and good things, so i'm still glad for everything! ;)

Not just that, January also marks my dad's and mom's birthday,
pretty close to each other actually, just a few days apart.
So for mom's birthday (which is the earlier one) I had a lil surprise planned out by having them woke up early in the morning for a spa massage @ dempsey. <3
After which, i made a reservation at somewhere different – Samy's Curry Restaurant knowing that they love curry and through recco by hurhur,
it's indian food for lunch today!

i like how they go round with this silver pots and scoop food to your pandan leaf.

Here's momsie, love you mommykins! <3
And all dressed in a perfect red weekend dress from closetmatterz!
This could just be a great choice for Chinese New Year as well, the halter, the colour, everything about it. ;)

Here are some outfits of the week!

Had a dinner at SICC and well, we know Cheongsams are awesome for Chinese New Year,
but this gorgeous piece from Closetmatterz can be great for dinner functions too! Love the white cum orange combi!

Princessess has manufactured some lovely oriental pieces specially for CNY, and i got myself two pieces!!
This is one lovely cheongsam top from them in mint colour, and mom says i look good in this colour! ;p

And this is the other piece I got from Princessess!
Love the cut of this cheongsam, and how the colour is standing out through the soft gorgeous mesh.
you wouldn't want to miss this piece!

Speaking of fashion,
I have also gotten some of my favourite pieces of my good'o' Love,Bonito for this CNY month!
Couldn't resist them everytime after shoots and here are a few that I got for myself.

Took these pieces, and i'm gonna wear the one of the left (the coral piece) for my reunion dinner!
heheh, it's fitting but trust me, the cut still enables us to eat without worries. :p

Took this very elegant bodycon cheongsam too, the cutting is amazing, and i like the shoulder and chest lace design especially.

these classic pieces are not to be missed too,  good for attending wedding dinners as well,
and these can be versatile and good for work wear too, just get a blazer on and off we go!

They have just launched in fact and i am sure you can get them in time for the new year too babes! :)

I'm back for the second entry of Korea, and I ended off with a snapshot of us checking into the hotel the previous night,
and here's where we stayed - Vabien Suite II.

Location was pretty near a train station but my Korean friend mentioned to me that it's more for residence (as in expats or so who live there for months),
as it's more of a serviced apartment than a hotel. No wonder the room was huge for one person!

The view from the living room. Good morning Korea!

Packing up my stuff before checking out for the second day to head out of Seoul.

Last view of the city.

We left the city, and were embarking to PyeongChang for SKIING!
Was so looking forward to this and journey was about a few hours, so we had a stopover at this place for toilet breaks and a lil shopping.

What we will do when we spot a heater. ;p

Korea Tourism Organization prepared different Korean meals for us to try every single day,
and today we were surprised with Pollack (fish) stew & grilled hwang tae fish!

yummy! a hot pot was what we needed for the cold weather.

Fiona & Caitrin ready for the meal!

How Singaporean can we be, we love SPICES in everything!

Done with lunch, a shot with our awesome guide before we continued on the journey.

How amazing that everything was already covered in Snow, Seoul was not snowing yet though.

Spotted a sign, in PyeongChang!

Finally, our destination! holiday Inn Resort @ Alpensia at Pyeongchang.

I must say I love this hotel stay the best, and it was simply just amazing.
The room, the view and the convenience. Would definitely recommend this place for skiing and stay!

The lounge area.

My vietnam friend on the trip! :)

looking out of our window, awesome! Just a stone's throw away.

Time to unload our luggage into the room.
There was no Wi-fi in the room, only cable, and later i'll show you where we were told to go for wi-fi services.

Peeks of my cozy room. :)
how generous Korea Tourism Org was, this was a uber splendid room for each of us!

And what was best when i opened the balcony door, I just refused to take my eyes off it.

Magnificent.
Took some moments to just sit there and enjoy the view, it was my first time staying in a ski resort!

Visited fiona's room, and for those who wants to go there with your family and kids, check out the cute kids room!

A shot before leaving for ski lesson.

Skiing lesson was real fun! It was a real pity that it lasted only 2-3 hours, and just as I was learning how to ski a tad better.
I suppose this place would be good for at least a two day stay and I love everything about it – cool town on its own!
Hope to go back there someday again for a full day of skiing! ;D

Angelinus coffee at your right, and that's the place for free wi-fi! :)

Ski outfits and blades etc are all for rental, no worries!
The only thing you have to ensure that you bring is the gloves ( i forgot all about that),
and as well as head gear, scarf etc if you want to wear them along with your outfit.

all prepped up! This is how they styled me heh (well not exactly, but what they gave to me accordingly to my size)

We all had a lesson with the professionals first!

Had to learn how to stand up when we fall, was quite a hilarious experience cuz it wasn't that easy!

and how to move our legs- V shape!

Time to do trials with the pro before we were off on our own!

Skiing was quite an experience though i didn't manage to do a full ski without falling down.
But this should absolutely be one of the activities you should do if you are travelling in Winter, especially Korea. :)
Pyeongchang area has one of the best and is renown for its ski resort in fact.

Walking back to the hotel for a good rest before dinner.

And was welcomed by a lovely and relaxed view when i reached the room.

It was around evening by the time, and dinner was at Go Hyang Story and its specialty is the Gonderae Vegi Rice cum BBQ pork.

This was the special rice, which was mixed in different kinds of vegetables, you have to eat it with seaweed and pork.
Delicious but it has quite a unique taste which some might like or might not like it, but a must-try if you are in Korea!

The day ended pretty well with a rest in the room and the next day was a change of location again!
Will be back for more folks! :)

Exploring Korea In Winter (Part 1)

The next few days will be posts on the Korea Trip,
and they will be image-intensive!

Finally pieced them all up together,
and I also received the helpful information sent by the Korea Tourism Organization about the exact name and location of the places we visited throughout,
which I reckon will be utmost useful for your trip if you are going/ or planning to go Korea!
At the same time, it can be useful for you to know what to look out for when you are booking for tours or even,
planning a free and easy trip.

Before I begin again,
A BIG THANKYOU to Korea Tourism Organization (notably Caitrin & Ms Park cum colleagues from the head office there) for hosting us all with great hospitality,
and provided us with great food, logging and a wonderful itinerary to explore more of Korea that I never thought or knew before,
be it educational, culture or for leisure fun.

Definitely one of my most fruitful trips. :)

***

I joined along four other fellow Singaporeans and flight timing was pretty good,
we arrived at InCheon International Airport as early as 6AM korea-time in the morning, an entire day to kick start the journey.

My travel companions were seniors of the travel industry, and here are three of them:

Fiona, Victor & Fung.

We had to gather with friends from other countries who will be arriving a couple of hours later than us,
so the best thing to occupy the morning was to have a hearty breakfast at Mcdonalds!

It's kinda like a must-do thing for me whenever i visit a country,
because no matter how international Mcdonalds is, their menu are catered to the different countries,
and they never fail to surprise me with something interesting or appealing.

this is one, not that interesting, but appealing rather. ;p

hotcakes! prefer our local hotcakes butter though..

I wanted to get a prepaid card, and apparently there is only book store that sells it there in the entire airport.
It was not exactly worth it to purchase one, but they do rental of sim card as well (means you have to return the sim when you are heading back to your country),
and if im not wrong, rental about 58USD which gives you only 55 minutes of talktime.
you can subscribe to 3G or increase talk time by purchasing with your credit card at the store too.

If you are interested:
SIM Card Purchase
You can purchase a prepaid SIM Card that can be used in Korea and most foreign countries.
Location: GS Books, 1st Floor of Incheon International Airport
Hours: 07:00 – 21:00
Tel: +82-32-743-5654
Help Desk: +82-505-648-7000 (English, Japanese)
E-mail: kimjin@simcardkorea.com (English, Japanese)

Anyway, my korean friend told me I should just RENT A PHONE (i saw a few booths there having this sign, but didn't go check it out),
and it's much cheaper.
Not sure about this, maybe I can update on this if i go again next time heh. :p

We left the airport about two hours later,
and weather was around 5 degrees Celsius then.. and we are out!

Welcome drink on the bus, roasted tea <3

The first stop was to Changdeokgung Palace, second royal villa,
known to be the main palace for many of the Joseon kings and is the most well-preserved of the five remaining royal Joseon palaces.

Everybody was feeling cold!

Team Singapore! Fiona, Victor, Caitrin, Fung and myself. :)

The friends from other countries, mainly Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand etc.

Our very patient and friendly tour guide. :)

More of the palace, and you should visit it for its rich culture.
It is one of the five grand palaces built by the kinds of the Joseon Dynasty,
and was quite badly damaged by the Japanese Occupation.
But glad that there are still remains of the original architectures, so it's worth a visit.

Friends from Vietnam!

Caitrin, one of the joy bringers of the group!

We headed out of the palace and spotted this van outside selling food..

The lady was selling really cute looking pancakes,
and don't judge it just like that.. they are really delicious pancakes stuffed with goodness!
Little cinamon pancakes with red-bean fillings.
Please try them if you spot them along the way!

We had a good hour or so touring the gorgeous palace and next up was lunch at a famous cafe/restaurant.

This place is known for their Ginseng Chicken- Samgyetang!
We were told that they are one of the best around, and there's always a queue outside as well.
Restaurant Name: To Sok Chon

Ginseng chicken stuffed with glutinous rice boiled in a broth of Korean ginseng, dried seeded jujube fruits, garlic, and ginger.
This was really satisfying for the cold weather especially!

Lunch didn't take too long before we all left to head towards the N Seoul Tower,
also known as the Namsan Tower or Seoul Tower and is one of the biggest attractions in Seoul.

Cost about 7500 won as seen by the ticket for a round trip of cable car.

There was a need to sit the cable car up,
walk a distance up to reach the tower before we are able to head up to the observation deck.
And the view upon sitting in the cable car was splendid enough..

Looking out from the cable car.

Walking up to the tower..

And here we were!

Spotted a sweet couple sitting right at the corner and I could imagine how magnificent the view is at the top of the observation deck already..

Fiona was another joy bringer to the group that brought us so much laughter with her life experiences cum bubbly character.
These cabbages are looking good for a snap shot, especially the purples ones!! ;)

Reached the observation deck.

True as what i have imagined, you can walk see the entire city view at the top and the view was simply breathtaking!
So I have heard it's best to go at night, before that's when you can see the whole city all light up, and view will be so romantic.
P.S: One more point to note for me if i go back to Korea again. hehe

cool and sweet..
It's a well known place for lovers to visit as well.. and you will know as you read further!

They have caricature there as well.

And as we exit the observation deck, there was this place that I saw in Korean dramas or pictures but never knew it was just there..

the love locks!

Pretty massive, and the locks were so interesting, some designs were extremely unique and amazing..

…But we were rather amused by some as well. :p

woah this person really wants to chain up his/her partner. heh

and spotted a Churros at the small cart outside, could never resist getting a stick!

yum!

Time to leave and definitely one that I will be back again to visit it at night!

Our day was pretty packed so far and you can see,
but there is just too much to visit in Korea though I have been there before,

The next stop was Insadong (Jongno-gu district), and the place is connected to a multitude of alleys that lead deeper into the district.
And it is known to be the largest market for antiques and artworks in Korea!

It is a place that you can see a lot of creative items or handicrafts along the way, so if you are keen on those really unique crafts,
it might a good place for you to get them!

We didn't spend much time before we head to learn how to make KIMCHI @ Kimchi world,
which is a walking distance from Insadong!

finally a place in getting warmth and resting the feet!

our teacher. ;)

Yee pei from Malaysia and Caitrin from Singapore looking all so excited and ready to start!

And lovely friends from Thailand tooo

first up, learning to cook rice cakes before making kim chi!

delicious! hehe well, for our efforts as well, thumbs up!

making kimchi next, and guess what?
We can bring the kimchi home and it's still sitting in my fridge now!
I heard we can keep it for about a year too.

our fruits of labour!

MBC was there to film our experiences as well!

It was about evening when the cooking workshop ended,
and the representatives from Korea Tourism headquarters actually arranged a really sumptuous dinner for all of us at a very cozy place.

As you can see, we were really pampered with great food at this restaurant,
and they have customized set menus for the guests.
Restaurant Name: Han Miri

And we ended the day by checking into our hotel, will share more on this on the next post!

I'll be back for more on the next day's journey, and each day it's getting exciting,
For ladies who are looking for chic & comfortable boots, especially for your Winter Wear…..

….this is one from Xquisis that you might have already spot on- comfy and high cut!
Love the camel brown shade and it's a two way fold boots.
one of my loved boots for the trip! ;)

***

Two lovely pieces for outfit of the past week!

A flowy swirly coral dress from Frockettes that is looking great and vibrant as it is,
and I like the flowy design at the bottom!

And mesh design is also one of my favourites, they kinda make the look a tad more dressy yet not too revealing or not too much,
and this mesh dress from frockettes is looking lovely in this apple green shade!

HAPPY NEW YEAR FOLKS!

Was transferring my photos to my computer and had to create a new "2012" folder and I just can't believe how time flies!
I ended the 2011 year in a rather special way this year because 29th is hurhur's birthday and 30th is our first year anniversary. ;)

So these two dates sum up a very good reason for something different than usual,
and so we did!
We had a short local getaway and not sure if it's a good thing or not,
but we had consecutively three days of pampered food!
Wouldn't complain cuz I couldn't think of any better occasion to spend a part of the savings. (ok maybe including my girlfriends & family :p)

Here was what we did for the last Thursday & Friday of 2011:

29TH DEC, THURSDAY
TIME CHECK: 12 NOON

I gave hurhur a lil surprise at around 1pm by asking him to meet me in town because I booked a night's stay at Grand Park Orchard for this short getaway,
and it turns out to be one of the best location hotels.
Will elaborate more later with peektures!

So i checked into the hotel first before he even knows it,
and already had a day of simple activities planned out.

For this casual day out, I was dressed in an absolutely comfortable outfit!

Love this minimalist piece in a gorgeous dark lilac shade from Chandelle House!
Fits nicely on the body shape and material is so comfy.

Not just that, I wore the dress with a new pair of causal weave wedges which is currently my favourite pair of wedges, no doubt!

it's truly one of my LIGHTEST pair of wedges in my shoe-drobe now and thank you Xquisis for bringing such a pair!
And isn't that what we all love?
Light (can walk for long hours, and yes it's real comfy!), wedge with platform in front (ease on the arch of our feet and better stability, yet giving us height),
and I totally adore it's unique weave design!

TIME CHECK: 1.30PM

The first stop was actually to dine in at Ippudo @ Mandarin Gallery for lunch, but it was madly packed so the plan changed to lunch at Arteastiq instead.
Food was not too bad, but it's more for the light lunch kind- sandwiches and all,
but I have to say their Le Quesadilla was soooooo delicious, one of the best definitely!

The Le Quesadilla!

This was not too bad, but the foccacia bread was a lil burnt & hard.

TIME CHECK: 2.30PM
Like i have mentioned, the location of the hotel is superb -
such as those good food places are all around the area, particularly Mandarin Galley & Paragon which are just opposite & beside the hotel respectively.
Besides that, I thought it would be a good hotel to stay as well cuz he can safely park the car there (complimentary parking by the hotel),
and we can just go to those places we need conveniently via walking.

So yes, divulged the secret plan, and brought him back to Grand Park Orchard to check out the room!

Booked the deluxe room but got an upgrade to the premier room at the Crsytal Club Floor.

Going in…..!

The room was nice and cosy, pretty romantic with all its dimmed lights actually.

So…the birthday boy received his gift on the very afternoon too – The IPAD 2!

Hello cubey, you owner really loves you!
(i asked him to name the it, he entertained me and named it cubey)
Welcome to the Apple Club, bee (it's his first apple product!).

And my plan of giving it to him in the afternoon worked just right and I kinda like how we spent the entire afternoon unboxing the ipad,
doing some installations, exploring it together- in fact i love gadgets too! ;p

Before we knew it, hours passed and I brought him out for the next plan.

TIME CHECK: 5.45PM

Paragon is just directly opposite us when we exit from the entrance.

And this was the next plan- an hour massage at Spa Esprit!

Massage and tea.

TIME CHECK: 8PM
I was in fact contemplating to bring him for a good dinner or so, but figured out that it might be as nice for a coza affair in the hotel room too.
So to make it even better, I called along a couple of common friends to surprise him by the door with dinner (bluff him that we are ordering room service heh),
and it turned out wonderful!

Feasting with these- Chicken pizza, Spaghetti alle vongole, crabmeat linguine, calamaris, tori-q, Salmon sushi and gong cha! <3

Have been wanting to try COVA Pasticceria (Confetteria Singapore) cakes for the longest time,
and finally got the chance to!

Heard they are really known for tasty and pretty desserts,
so i ordered a small birthday cake for hurhur. ;)

Night ended just simple with friends and food in a cozy room!
Hope he likes it ;)

30TH DEC, FRIDAY
TIME CHECK: 12 NOON

Rise and Shine!
Didn't book breakfast with the room because I wanted to bring him to one of my favourite brunch places- WILD HONEY.

Dressed in a flora sundress from Chandelle House, and I always love sundresses actually.
Just that it's not as common around as last time, and this is one lovely piece!

Wild Honey was as usual madly packed, and we had to wait for about half hour or so before we got seats.
Went to do a lil shopping at Cine Leisure for Cubey's clothes and I spotted my one of my favourite sweets- the strawberry flavour!

Couldnt resist getting a pack!

TIME CHECK: 1PM

love this place still!

Food came, and these two are a must try in my opinion!

Sweet Morning- French Toast with stuffed Mango, accompanied with maple syrup, berries sauce and cream.

European- Eggs Benedicts. And this is my TOP favourite.
Maybe because i love eggs (minus egg yolks), ham and bread, the Hollandaise especially, and mushrooms! (not all eggs benedicts come with mushrooms)
I must say the ham they used are pretty different as well, and this is worth the penny! ;)

We spent the entire afternoon doing shopping from  313 Somerset to ION Orchard,
and our plan was also to have dinner early because we were both craving for Ramen!
He's more of a Ramen fan than me, and I can't believe he hasn't tried Ippudo- which is the best ramen i have tried so far in Singapore.

So to visit Ippudo and make sure we don't spend too much time queuing (or rather, not queue at all),
we went at 5PM plus.

TIME CHECK: 5.15PM

The white bowl is the original broth, but the red one is the enhanced broth.
Trust me, I think you will prefer the red bowl's broth!! :p Remember to add the egg!

That was how we spent the final Thursday and Friday of 2011,
and guess what's my new baby-  Canon S100! <3

Thank you for the anniversary gift! <3
