Finally got down to rearrange the New Zealand pictures and I can't believe i took 11GB worth of photos + videos!

NZ has one of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen, absolutely scenic and incredibly gorgeous. We visited only the South Islands for this trip, beginning from Christchurch – which was pretty much a quiet hometown, and did a road trip 7-days road trip to explore the different towns. It definitely brought us great excitement each time we arrived at a new destination and the towns were simply different yet captivating in their own ways.

Shall let the pictures do the talking. (;

DAY ONE
CHRISTCHURCH

Arrived at Christchurch!

Checked into our hotel – The Chateau on the Park.

We weren't quite satisfied with the rooms, they looked pretty different from the pictures we saw on the site! ):
The highlight of this hotel would probably be the unlimited connection of Wifi (though signal fluctuates), which is pretty generous for a hotel in NZ, so I've heard.
Location wise was not too bad, a 5-10 minutes drive to one of the biggest malls there – Riccarton Mall.

Lunch was at La Porchetta- Italian food for the first meal in NZ.

One of the biggest and busiest malls there – Riccarton Mall.
You can find restaurants and the different retail brands there like supre, cotton on etc.

Heard from my new found NZ-Singaporean friend, Cheryl, this is the best supermarket around our area to stock up on food and necessities!
True enough, prices were lower than those small shops along the roads.

Sun set on the way back

The first day was a simple one as we had to get a decent rest to begin for our road trip the next day.
Will be back for the next part soon!

Habitat Coffee is one of my favorite hang out cafes with the girls, especially when we get to see a familiar face or two whenever we are there. Ryan (the man behind the business) has been an absolutely sweet friend to all of us and never fails to treat us with great hospitality each and every time. Oh yes, did I mention Poots is part-timing there too? Please feel free to say a hello to her if you see her there, I bet you'll make her day!

It always brightens up my day to know that I'll be heading there, knowing that I would be having my favorite Habitat freshly-brewed Hazelnut Latte, accompanying with a plate of truffle fries and a slice of their signature Black/Red Velvet Cake or Orange Walnut Cake at Habitat Coffee. These delights are to-die-for!

#OOTD: Donning on Fairebelle's Kimono Dress, love the sleeves and the embroidery (removable) sash!
Did a Black Velvet Cake Takeaway home for my family and i'm sure they will love it as much as I do too, we are all Chocolate fans. And that's Ryan by the way! Do say hello to him too, you will make another person's day too. (;

Mother's Day celebration this year was spent over a good lunch at Crystal Jade Golden Palace.

Been there twice or thrice for their dim sums only, but this occasion calls out for something better this time. Apart from the usual dimsums, we tried their Peking Duck for the first time and were rather impressed by it. Taste wise was good overall though momsie felt that the rice flour skin wrapping over the sliced skin were a lil too thick for her liking. Apart from that, the common way to appreciate the remaining duck meat would be to dice and fry it (including the most expensive part – drum meat) with noodles (yi fu main) but we were pretty surprised to see that they actually served the drum meat separately.

Not just my first time experiencing this, but my parents too, had never seen such a serving method for Peking Duck amongst all the restaurants that we have tried before. And that's a good thing definitely, you know for sure that you are not missing out on the good stuff with the price you pay. (;

Been wanting to head down to Antoinette for the longest time and I finally patronized the place two weeks ago, right after the Lucidol shoot (as continued from the previous entry). Had a dinner date with the girls, leney and poots, and dinner went ever better when Z came along with us.

The food array was of a decent scale with each and every item on the menu looking very inviting. With that in mind, we were pretty spoilt for choices and unknowingly, we settled for eight items on the menu for just the four of us! It didn't seem like an unfamiliar act to us (I guess we always over-order) until Z had a petrified look on her face when 3 desserts all came at one go. It was a pretty amusing moment because we then counted the items & went into a slight shock mode. Mind over matter – that's when our tummies felt full. Geez.

If i were to put a finger on the menu to point out my personal favourites, it has got to be the Blueberry Pancakes (Absolutely tasty), Pavlova Ice Cream (i heard the crepe is as good), the Macaroons, Nougatine Crepes & Gnocchi Carbonara (though i think it will be much more satisfying if it's pasta than Gnocchi due to the overwhelming Gnocchi taste).

I love the setup of the place, very cosy, spacious and grand albeit the small place. I can't wait to explore the other outlets, in particularly the one at Penhas Road or the upcoming one at Palais Renaissance.

That week was accompanied with another round of feasting after Fred introduced us to Tonkatsu by Ma Maison at Mandarin Gallery. The six of us (Brad, Ming, Fred & Vel, Ethan & Me) went for the dinner two days before Fred&Vel flew to the states for their wedding shoot

Quoting Fred, he said it's one of the best Tonkatsu places around. And true enough, there was a really long queue but thankfully Fred managed to get us seats. Tonkatsu was definitely very generous with the portion of their sets and with refillable salad and rice. One thing for sure, a set is more than enough to make you feel full to the brim! Again, if you are not sure what to order, I think the Hungary Mangalica Rosu Katsu Set has the best tasting meat, and I love the Prawn Katsu which is as long as 25cm.

Just two weeks ago, Zianna & myself participated in a collaboration shoot between LoveBonito x Lucidol. We had to do a total of 3 completely different looks each, with hair & make-up by Lucidol Team and outfits by LoveBonito. The picture above shows one of the looks, and I reckon it pretty much tells you the theme for the day- Japanese.

We had really interesting hairstyles & looks for that day, not forgetting to mention that it was Zianna & my first time trying on faux lower lashes! It didn't feel as uncomfortable as I've imagined, and in fact, they were pretty comfortable. I personally felt that there was a substantial difference to the make up cum appearance after putting the lower lashes on the very day of the shoot, and I concluded myself that that must be a key step in hopes to achieve a Jap Look!

Each of our looks was accompanied with both an outdoor/indoor shoot, and we will be showcasing how to do up the "Jappy" hairstyle in a few simple steps in those shots we took . Can't wait to receive the publicity materials and will do an update then.

Thanks to folks from LoveBonito x Lucidol, it was a really fun shoot albeit the long hours. (;

Our gift from the Lucidol Team.

P.S: Didn't know Bifesta & DollyWink are both under Lucidol and I have heard so much raves about both brands.
If i'm not wrong, Bifesta is known for its make up remover and it is the former Cleaning Express makeup remover. (Not too sure about this because I have not used up my bottle of Cleaning Express to get a new one). As for DollyWink, I have been dying to try their liquid eye liner for the longest time! Will try this pencil one first, and get the liquid one the next time. Will review this if it's good!

Another piece from Triselle, and you probably would love the unique tier-flap at the top. Quality is definitely commendable!

I love bright colours outfits and this is one such from Pearlavish! Get the summer look by matching it up with a vibrant pair of heels. (;

This maroon dress from Pearlavish has a flattering cut especially the waist area. Match it with a blazer for a corporate look or just a simple pair of wedge to casual it up!

Last but not least, you will love the material of this workdress from Pearlavish. It absolutely comfortable on the skin. Comes in a nude sweet pink shade and the additional belt too.

I'm back to the humid Singapore from the cooling New Zealand and boy, the holiday just flew by in the wink of an eye. Am missing the crisp cold weather in NZ, the clear nights and frosty mornings, the hearty breakfasts, the magnificent sceneries, the tranquility, the peaceful towns and the list goes on. I'm really glad I went on this trip to explore NZ, witnessing what it's known for- the spectacular landscapes.

More of the NZ Travelogue soon!

The Toshiba Ultrabook is a great companion while travelling especially for its lightweight and the thin aspect of it.

I tend to have a bigger handbag (slightly bigger than A4) with me whilst travelling, and this 13" toshiba ultrabook z830 simply fits in comfortably.
Also, I'm used to holding my bag instead of slinging it on the shoulders and the light-ness of the ultrabook definitely helps a lot. I'm glad it doesn't take a toll on my arms nor hands after carrying it for hours!

In a nutshell, here are 5 things I love about the Toshiba Portege Z830 Ultrabook:
1. It is sleek & thin
2. It is light
3. Up to 8 hour battery life on save mode
4. Resume from sleep mode as fast as 2 seconds!
5. The spill-resistant keyboard

If you are interested to get an even closer look & feel on the Toshiba Portege Z830 Ultrabook , you can check out the gameshow filming that we did in KL. it's called the Toshiba Intel Ultrabook Challenge, and we had four different challenges we did, using the Toshiba Portege Z830 Ultrabook. We were interviewed during each challenge as well, so watch them to know our own personal views on the ultrabook!

1. This is one of my favourite dresses in the wardrobe right now! Love the midi length and especially the waisted-flap design which helps to accentuate the waist. This Desire Lines Dress from Stephie's Shop is simply comfortable on the skin too.

2. This Upper West Side Dress from Stephie's Shop is one staple piece that we should have in the wardrobe. The nude colour and simple design give the dress a great versatility. Match it up with a blazer for work and chic look, or wear it by it self for a casual weekender look.
Took today. One of the streets in Christchurch, just beside out hotel.

Hello folks! i'm in Christchurch, New Zealand now, and time difference of Sg & NZ is approximately 4 hours. It says 11.11pm on the clock here as I'm typing this and the clock on my laptop shows 7.11pm in Singapore.

We have checked into the hotel about 12.30pm NZ timing today and the trip has been great so far. We rented a car, drove around Riccarton area for food and shopping, and along City Centre (the mall that was badly affected when the Christchurch earthquake happened last year) to take a look at the surroundings. It's pretty much a small city here with all low-rise buildings/houses (I think the highest building i saw today was around 5-storey high) and I suppose that's the beauty of New Zealand – you can literally see the mountains from here!

It's pretty much a quiet town & and I can see why people come here for retirement at old age. Will pen down a more detailed entry soon & take care in the meanwhile! xx.

P.S: I received a random yet wonderful email this morning from a Singaporean living in Christchurch. Had a fabulous time exploring the places that locals go to instead of the usual touristy ones and we wouldn't have known these places if it's not for her. Will share more about these places in due time in another entry. Thanks so much Cheryl, it's amazing to have "met" you in this way & thank you so much for sharing to a stranger like me. Hope we can buy you a dinner on our last day in Christchurch to show our appreciation!

Some random ramblings today.

Have you ever felt really discouraged, emotional and go about wondering if you have led a different & better life?

Frankly speaking, that thought didn't cross my mind before.
The grass is always greener on the other side, and in any kind of life we lead, there's bound to have ups and downs, discontentment and contentment. They are just simply inevitable. Even if we are leading that different life we are yearning for, we might end up wishing for another kind of life isn't it?

So i see no point nor meaning in thinking that. There are just too many "what if" and instead of pondering on that, I would think that it's only meaningful that we think about the lives we are leading now, how lucky we are as compared to many, how lucky we are to have all that we have now and love/appreciate the life we have now. No life is perfect, nobody is perfect, nothing is perfect. It doesn't mean that with imperfections, we can't be truly happy. The only way is to know how to work around imperfections and understand the usual saying, " Be happy, not because everything is good, but because you can see the good side of everything " And when we truly understand this saying deep inside our hearts, i believe we will then realise that our state of mind, our happiness depends on how we look at things, situation and life.

That's when appreciation, gratefulness, contentment = pure happiness come about.

Same goes for being a person, we are who we are. And not thinking what if we are a different person or how can we be a person like him/her? Why should we be like the person and be the same as what somebody is already? Nothing special on that. We should love ourselves and just be ourselves. And instead of wondering about how our personalities can be different, we have to know we are good in our own ways and yes we have flaws too. Who doesn't have flaws? An imperfection of you can be a gem to others and vice versa. Most importantly, in our own perspective, we should always seek to improve oneself and be a better person, but at the same time, don't lose our own value. As the saying goes "You might feel worthless to one person, but you are priceless to another. Don't ever forget your value." Don't be discouraged, don't be dejected. Everyone's definition of a good person or a better person is different. We can't please everyone, we can't agree to everyone. As long as we know that we are doing the right thing and doing things against our conscience with the right attitude, that's all that matters.

*

Poots and I took some time out in the afternoon last week to catch up on old times over tea.

We were looking for the perfect place for tea-breaks and figured that PS Cafe would be a good choice. Reasons were simply because, one – They have the best truffle fries (in terms of taste & value, in my personal opinion of course) & two – Love love love their ambience. If you realised, the respective PS Cafe outlets have very different yet really amazing interior designs! And so, we chose the one at Palais Renaissance mainly due to the accessibility. But it is also my favourite outta all the four outlets- Love the high ceiling, the glass panels and huge plants decor. <3

pooty poots <3

Though I really love the place and some of the food cum desserts, but this dessert called the Choco Crunch Doorstop (S$15.90), was a tad disappointing in my opinion.
A bit too dry and overly sweet for my liking.

TRUFFLE FRIES!
The must-have in PS Cafe and we were recommended by the waiter to try this new creation - Chocolate Truffle fries. (S$15)
Poots and I felt a lil disappointed again because we ordered the original truffle fries, and was recommended to try this instead as we were told that the price & portion are the same. Too good to be true to believe at first, but at the same time, it didn't seem false especially when we were dining in. Turned out he wasn't aware that there is a reduction in the portion and that explains the price. This tasted pretty good actually, if you like sweet + savoury, but I would personally still go on the usual truffle fries for the next visit.

With poots in green & myself dressed in Klarra's shimmer top and maxi skirt (both launched).

I'm flying off to New Zealand in 5 days time!

The tickets were actually booked 3 months ago and the initial destination was Japan (which is a place that I've been longing to visit!). Until two weeks ago, I heard so many stories from friends, family about radiation issues which placed me in quite a dilemma on whether I should proceed for my trip. So i did some research & readings but there weren't exactly real-life articles nor concrete evidence about the harm of Japan's radiation issues though it did mention about the potential harms it can cause in a human's body. Present or future, we don't know.

Call me conservative or so, but I deduced that there might be some from of risk to us, especially us females & our fertility or the extreme cases, fetus development or so. I don't deny the fact that these can also happen even if one doesn't visit Japan now, coupled with the fact that we are already exposed to radiation every single day. The last straw for me was when I heard real-life stories from two of my friends, about their close friends having to go through traumatic events such as abortion of their fetus weeks after they came back from Japan.

After much deliberations, I decided that if i were to go for a holiday, yes holiday, it should definitely be one with a peace of mind. Thankfully the hotels allow refunds and SQ allows us to change destination and just top up (if any) and that explains the new destination – New Zealand! The trip was booked together with Ethan & two more friends – June & Kenneth & they are amazingly spontaneous to agree to change destination as well. i'm indeed grateful to have met such great friends!

It's gonna be our first time there as well and I foresee that we are going to have so much fun together. Kiwi Land, here we come!

*

Baby Evangeline is near 3 months old already & I am glad to see her mommy, my darling linny to be handling everything so well. Yes, if you have been following, you should be aware that Linny is my first girlfriend who has started a family. Though it still feels pretty surreal to be seeing her carrying baby Evan, but deep in my heart, I am very proud of her.

I love you darling! <3

Linny managed to get a couple of hours out and we settled at a Japanese Curry Bistro for dinner together with Selene.

Curry Beef Omelette Rice. (S$13++) + Cheese (S$2)

Chicken Katsu Curry Rice (S$14++) + Cheese (S$2)

The unique aspect of this place is that you can customize the spicyness of the curry – it ranges from one chilli sign, to four chilli signs, to 12 chilli signs and above. The highest we tried was four chilli signs but it wasn't at all spicy. For folks who love it with more punch, you know what you should do!

Desserts would be a must for us after meals & since it's around the corner, we decided to make a visit to Chocolate Origin as introduced by Selene. She mentioned that its main outlet was situated at Changi Village and their signature chocolate cake is a popular choice amongst birthday cakes selections for many.

And you will be surprised to find just two items on their menu, their chocolate cake (Original or Dark) & the Cuppa Warm Lava Cake. We settled for the latter which was retailing at an affordable price of S$5 and it was simply delectable! It's a combination of Vanilla icecream at the base, and the cake on top was warm with a mouthful of warm chocolate sauce sitting in the middle. I am craving for one just as i'm typing this entry!

I've been caught up by work for the past two months & last week, I finally made an appointment for some hair grooming with my trusty stylist, John at Salon Vim.

My untamed hair for two months within trimming.

Looking back in time, I have been going to John for almost two years or more for hair services and till date, he (& Gary) might be the only ones that I trust when it comes to hair.

Before John, I didn't exactly find a particular stylist that I like enough to fix my hair appointments with him/her. Was used to hopping around to different salons recommended by different friends but the downside of it was that, I had to constantly explain to the stylist what did i do to my hair previously, what kind of styles have I tried before yet didn't look very good on me and what kind of hairstyles I prefer etc. Though they might be very experienced in the field, but I suppose what's important in my personal opinion, is to find one that you are comfortable with, one who understands what are your needs and last but not least, ensures that you leave with a satisfied cum wholesome experience at the end of the day.

And yes, i've found mine.

This time, i had zero inspiration on what should I do to my hair, but one thing for sure, it's time for a change! Been keeping mid-length to long for the longest time because I didn't think short suits me, and I have tried a couple of different colours that I didn't imagine I will try (i.e going red and surprisingly, I loved it!) or chemical services (i.e soft rebonding).

As you can see, it's always along the same hairstyle.
So I went telling John about my boring hairstyle and as usual, leave it to him to decide what changes should I do to my hair. And Yay, I'm getting a perm & a new colour with highlights!

When it comes to perming, I had an extremely unpleasant experience 5 years back when I did my first perm at a rather prominent hair salon.

This was a month after the perm, I remember. As you can see, the perm wasn't at all pleasant looking, and the bottom half of my hair was seriously tangled up in frizziness! Very awful sight and I can vividly recall that I had to tie my hair into a bun for the entire month. Perming didn't come across my mind ever since then and that's probably why you have not seen me mentioning much about perming services by John though it has been two years at Salon Vim!

And so it begins..

my friends got rather amused by the ice cream sticks stuck on my head!
The curls i'm getting is called the Texture Perm – aims to give my flat hair more volume & yes, texture, but ensuring that it looks natural & wavy instead.

Trying out this new hair-dye technique and look called the Donna Taffetas – An interesting combination of colours (mine's natural brown & red highlights) & the way how the highlights sit on the hair.
This technique aims to ensure that the curls are more apparent and that the colour gives you a healthier looking appearance too.

Thankful for my lovely girlfriends to be sitting with me in the salon for hours! And guess what? Linny & Selene's hair are both cut by John too! ;D

5 inches chopped & curls are almost done!

The final look!

Definitely something different from my usual. LOVE IT!
Thank you to you, my trusty stylist John Tham!

Would recommend this texture curls + dye to you girls who have issues with flat hair or untamed hair too.
1. Immerse with the spring/summer vibe by dressing yourself up with an effortless chic abstract prints dress from Pearlavish.
Love the cut of this dress, especially at both the neckline & waistline!

2. If you like to keep it simple, this royal purple dress from Pearlavish might be just the one you are looking for.
The scallop collar definitely spices up the look!

3. If you know me, i'm a great fan of maxi dresses and especially those with gorgeous prints and cut.
Love this piece from Pearlavish and it's high collar design! Don't you think the bohemian prints are gorgeous too?

SPONSORED POST *EDITED*

When I was younger, I used to be scrambling around different areas, waiting for parking etc with my dad/ mom just to find AXS machines (there weren’t so many then) for credit card bills paying every month.

Time flies and now, I have stepped into the adulthood for a good couple of years. Adulthood = credit cards = monthly debts. Thank goodness to the IT programmers for inventing/enhancing the online banking platform over the years, I can see that it does make life easier. Simply because we can now conveniently perform our transactions anytime in our own comfort space and yes, the credit card bills! So I recently got in touch with OCBC, and guess what?

I signed up for an account with them!
And there are two main reasons that triggered me to sign up for an account:

1. The FRANK debit account is an ordinary OCBC savings account. BUT, the unique aspect of it is that we can customized the debit/credit card.

2. Most importantly, the New and Enhanced OCBC Online Banking.

What is impressive is that this account opens the gateway to the new and enhanced online banking platform by OCBC!
I have heard so much about this platform via friends, mentioning that it has features that not all banks have. Now that I have full access to the OCBC online banking platform, I shall summarize the three main features that I like about it from my own humble experience.

1. PAY ANY CARD

The usual Online Banking platform from most banks does enable us to pay for credit card bills, but it applies to certain cards only. But nowadays, we don’t apply for just one or two cards and this shows one thing for sure- the amount of cards increase as time goes by (especially the attractive offers that accompany the card!).

There is another company that allows the paying of credit card online, but OCBC Online Banking is currently the only bank that you can pay these four other banks’ VISA, Mastercard, Amex (except Amex partner banks card) & Diners Club Credit Cards bills via their online banking platform.

You don’t have to visit the AXS machines every month, you don’t have to queue (thank goodness!) nor do you have to worry about having the need to head out to pay. Why not do everything at the comfort of your own home or on the go because all you need is… the computer & internet. This is also a good time to sign up for an account and start paying your credit card bills (from other banks too) with OCBC because…

You stand a chance to win a free holiday to Phuket every week!

Every bill payment with a minimum S$50 will get you 1 chance to win, so it means you can double/triple your winning chances easily! To find out more, click Here.

P.S: On a side note, why you should always read our sponsored posts is because there is definitely attractive news to share (and at times, we fight for rewards for u guys!) & you might be the lucky one to be receiving a surprise! :p

2. SAVINGS GOAL

A bank is needed for us to safekeep our cash, but a good bank should give us augmented benefits too. With that in mind, the OCBC Online Banking has a ‘Saving Goals’ feature, which helps us to set, track and achieve our personal goals.

It’s not something new that we have savings placed in different banks, telling ourselves that the money in this particular account is just for savings, but those in another bank is for expenses etc. I am no exception, and that’s supposedly the most convenient way for us to differentiate our hard-earn money. And here’s when the Saving Goals feature comes into place.

This feature has a special compartment in the account (some sort like a subaccount but still under the same account number) where you can set your goals and place an amount under the respective goals’ compartment. The amount will be subtracted from your total figure, and will not appear in the balance you see while you withdraw money from the ATM etc.

3. ONLINE BANKING SECURITY GUARANTEE

Last but not least, having a good security is definitely the most important aspect we look for in a bank. If you are worried about performing transactions online due to security reasons, you can rest assure with OCBC Online Banking Security Guarantee feature.

“OCBC uses leading-edge and industry-standard technology and processes to ensure that your privacy and transactions are not compromised, and that your interests are safeguarded at all times. “

With these useful and essential features on OCBC Online Banking, you can bank on the go, anywhere under the sun!

It will be great to share this piece of news to your friends, especially when it’s a very useful to each and every one of us.
The FRANK outlet has an outlook that is extremely different from the usual banks you visit. It has a very modernized concept, and it feels as though I’m in a CD shop.

Like I’ve mentioned, by opening an account with FRANK at OCBC, you get to choose your own design for your debit card! And that explains the CD-look-a-like displays on the walls. In fact, they are the magnified sample cards of the design available for you to choose for your own card!

Saw this in their book of samples, a true unique design to have!

Stole some sample cards back, and here are the other designs that I think are pretty cool.

And for me, this is the design I chose for my card.

And the real thing!

Ain’t it look gorgeous and chic with my wallet? And who says we can’t make cards as fashion accessory? You can get yours too!
