Black Sheep Cafe

Birthday means full of eating,
and a high dosage of sweet stuff for a couple of days.

I was gladly overwhelmed by the sweet cakes from the friends and family,
and now i need to loseeee weight, so friends please help me by stuffing me with less food. :p
Here're some piccas for the past week!

Preparing to head out in my new mesh top dress from The Tinsel Rack.

Comes with a sash, but i kinda like to wear my belt outside the jacket.

Zihui gave me a lil surprise after my finance class. :) )

Wearing a new summer dress from The Tinsel Rack for the birthday lunch!

And the great thing about birthdays is you get to catch up with friends,
enjoy the time and talk about anything under the sun over an awesome meal.
Plus, you get to check out new places or visit your favourite places.

But well, we love to explore new places and here's one that the dear girls researched on,
and woohoo! It's great and extremely unique.
Read on to find out.

This cafe is called the .
Situated at a narrow street beside a Mosque at 35 Mayo Street and somewhere near The Verge (Shopping mall) at little india,
it is a small French & European casual cafe that one could miss it upon walking along the street.

The first amazing thing I stepped into the whole cafe was that,
it is opened and solely owned by ONE Indian chef,
As simple as it is, there is only him and another indian waiter who operate the business everyday.

Their last order was 2pm and they close at 3pm to take a short break before dinner,
and fortunately dear yalin called to request them to wait for us as we were running late.

Furnishing was simple, kinda on the monochrome theme,
but i kinda enjoyed looking at the antiques and the paintings hanging around.

it would have been better if there were soft music playing at the background to enjoy the delicacies,
and I am wondering how does the restaurant look at night..

The two dear girls that specially arranged this lunch for me! <3333

Linny love <3 and a tired looking me. :(

Hungry us waiting eagerly for our feast!

And finally the food is here!

Appetizer- Cheese Brie
SGD $12.90

This is definitely perfect for you if you are a cheese lover,
there is great abundance of cheese oozing out upon cutting it,
and the top layer is filled with a thin layer of crisps!
We love the sides- frozen fruits that came with this dish!

But i kinda thought it wasn't worth $12.90 for that small portion.

Appetizer- Foie Gras

I love love love Foie Gras,
I know its a sin to eat this, and kinda inhuman,
but it taste sooooooo goood.

Main- Lamb Shank
SGD $23.90 (if i didn't remember wrongly)

Introducing my favourite of the day, I love this lamb shank the most.
Comes in a huge portion, and drenched in a whole lot of rich brown sauce,
it tasted just as good as it looks.

The best part was their tender marinated meat, and they are definitely generous with this whole dish.

Main – Sliced Beef for the set lunch
SGD $16.50

This was good too, love the sauce and the pan fried crispy potatoes!

Main – Duck Confit
SGD $22.90

Yalin told me this was the recommended dish by many upon visiting the black sheep cafe,
but i thought it was a lil dry, probably it wasn't accompanied by any sauce.
The meat was tender and juicy though, and the rosti was an absolute great side dish as well.

Try this cafe if you are looking for a cosy lil french cafe without a pinch in the wallet.

THE BLACK SHEEP CAFE
35 Mayo Street
(opposite sim lim towers)
They are opened from Monday to Saturday.
Time: 11.30am to 3pm & 6.30pm to 11pm.
For reservations:92721842 62925772

And here's what the dear girl, linny made for me. <3

With great effort and love, linny is one of the kindest and sweetest souls on earth,
no doubts about that., :)

Love you my dear girl!

Loved, loved, loved.
That's all i need to know :)

Vel’s Mafia & Taiwanary Day 4 (Part 2)- Dan Shui

I'm back folks!

Its a Sunday, and I feeling a bit of Monday Blues here. Boo!
Hope you guys aren't feeling this way,
because we shouldn't let this tiny bit of blues to spoil the remaining time of our previous weekend.

And why not let me share my BB-MM?
Which is a Bea's Breakfast for Motivational Monday. Hahahahahaha,

Let me share my own recipe for a breakfast I made last week!

I thought it looks yummy cuz of the strawberries,
and you can get this up within just minutes!

Its in fact very healthy food, (as recommended from my mother)
and its Strawberry Oat Meal with Flakes.
Apparently Oat is a very good source of fibre,
and girls, we should start eating it as meals because Oat helps dieting!
I researched and found this explanation for it…..

"Not only it is a delicious dish for breakfast,
it is also a dish that helps in reducing your hunger,
thereby helping you stick to your diet plan.
This is because the fiber in oats forms gels to fill up.
And it is these gels that delay the emptying of your stomach so that you don’t feel hungry quickly. "

Easy peasy, low cost and healthy,
you just need to get:
1. Instant Oatmeal from your usual NTUC, Cold Storage etc.
2. Whatever ingredients that you want to add into the oatmeal porridge.

To keep it as healthy as possible,
I added it my favourite strawberries
and also sweetened cornflakes to give it a slight sweet and crunchy taste!

My first time at MBS was actually attending Vel dear's 23rd Birthday at a HUGE SUITE!

It was absolutely awesome because there was a theme and everyone was extremely spontaneous about it.
Love themed parties and that's always the highlight of the gathering.

If you realised, the theme is MAFIAS and recalling the night,
I totally kudos to everyone for going all out for Vel.

Even Bryan too… this is hilarious.
Rach was asking Bryan to pose with me with the flowers on his hand,
and the black flower clip on his HAIR! :p

Look at how Mafia he went, (the tattoo stocking on the arm). Coolbeans.

Here's titus and lihui and….. fred's bag that i couldn't resist carrying it because it looks too unique.

The birthday specs!

Doing the Lovebonito poses! hahahaha

Here comes cake cutting session…

We had cups with our own names.

Uncle and Auntie was totally spontaneous too!

And we tried out the new camera of Rach!
Look at how it captures all of us.

Hope Vel had a blast that night,
and It was a fabulous party which i love every single bit of it! :)

* * *

I think I am kinda into TOGAS recently,
and unknowingly, I was browsing through my pictures and I was almost in different togas for different occasions.
But 3 words- I LOVE TOGAS!

White and black bandaged skirt which can be easily transformed into party outfit, or work outfit.
Just a blazer or cardigan on and you are perfect for work!

And my next favourite colour is actually RED.
My phone cover is red, room walls are red, and nails are red.
Try red it rocks! :p

Convertible dresses are also a favourite,
you can wear it in between lesser intervals and in many different kinds of way too!

i love the M-shaped black tube that comes with this piece,
Quality is definitely there, and off with some simple accessories and done!

If you were going to ask where did i get these lovely pieces,
these above 3 pieces are specially from The Design Closet!  :)

Here's Taiwan Day 4, and this entry marks the end of Day 4 too.

We visited Dan Shui for the next half of the day.
This place is like the end of the MRT stations, (something like Jurong Station).

We were greeted with different kind of view,
more towards the nature side with the sea and all,
and guess what?! I heard JAY CHOU has a cafe there!

But we only found out after when we got back,
and didn't have a chance to try it. :(

Without knowing what's actually good there,
except for the famous YU SONG (fish crackers) and Tie Dan (Iron eggs).
Got a map and decided to check out dan shui lao jie.

Woo, i love this kinda streets in Taiwan,
whereby you find a lot of small carts here and there,
and sometimes chance upon real unique stuff.

This ice cream stall has certainly great business.
Looking at the queue, we had one each too.

But it was disappointing!
Its not rich and creamy as the colour looks,
but more of plain soft ice with minimal flavour. :(
Apple told me we should try it at Ximending though.

Try this is you by-pass the stall, its pink guava and extremely thirst quenching!

They have Naraya too, but well, for Naraya, there's only one place- BANGKOK!

Chilled ones are awesome!

A big bulldog.

Spent a while shopping here for accessories!

Wee? Singapore's delight is here?
But nah, i don't like durians!

It was drizzling and we went to seek shelter at this exquisite looking dessert shop.

They have limited choices,
and it seems like each and every piece is made specially.
We tried these two:

Banana Chocolate Cake which was simply delicious!
Each thin layer of chocolate crepe has real rich chocolatey taste!

And an ice-cream crepe!

The night came shortly after,
and feeding on all the fried food for days,
we figured out its time to have some fishball soup.

and oh gosh, if you are going to dan shui, please visit this shop! <3

Poots needs to get sour plum back for her mom,
and this owner offered to take a picture for us out of sudden,
and then we realised straight away- he's using tourists (us) for marketing!

Bought a cheap but really cute umbrella.
Love it to bits.

The night market.

And after a long day of walking,
Poots concussed while we trained back to our hotel.

Stay tuned for the last couple of days of Taiwan! :)

Taiwanary Day 4 (Part 1) – Xi Men Ding

Wendys has one of the best baked potatoes around.
I never knew they sell the whole baked potatoes as side dishes and boy,
it comes in 4 different flavours and I tried 3 flavours before,
I must say it's real good!

A effortless classic simple blue dress with the unique designs at the hip and front area,
specially given by Pearlavish, just perfect for a Tuesday night in town.

Matched it with a pair of wedges to have a more casual outlook,
but by all means to wear a pair of heels and it would be just right for work.

Love dresses because they are easy and convenient to wear,
and usually a simple belt or necklace will do the trick of getting you more dressed up.

Did i tell you i love redddddd?
This dress has got to be one of the best buys at pearlavish too.

Manicure on a wednesday,
and I realised I can't stand the slightest defect on the nails and have been frequently getting my nails done.
Not a good sign, I would say…

* * *

As continued from Taiwan Day 3,
here's day 4 for us and it was a kinda different one because we actually went further from Taipei.

The usual spot for photos again.

A don't know why solemn looking Shawn.
Perhaps he waited for us too long to get ready, hahahaha,

I kinda like these two photos, very candid!!
Yes yes, shawn you are a good photographer.

Never fail to get a cup of Bubble tea to kick start the day.

If you are a fan of bubble tea, go to KOI and try their Hazelnut Milk Tea or Oolong Milk Tea, superb!

The graffiti man who got quite a huge pool of audiences watching at ximending.

We decided to treat ourselves to better food than street food on this very day,
and settled on this Tamago Ya, which is known as "DAN DAN WU"  restaurant right smack at the entrance of Ximen MRT exit.

Place looking posh and good.

Of course, what's a good place without photos? :p

our food, pastas and western.

I have to give two thumbs up for their quality of food!
Definitely a place where I would go again for lunch in future if i go back to Taiwan,
Surprisingly, prices are not that expensive there as well.

And here's a goodbye to this place and stay tuned for the next part of the day!

Pizza Hut Parchment Pasta!

1

I am sure one of our favourite hotlines for delivery very frequently,
would be none other than Pizza Hut.
Trust me, you’re gonna feel hungry after reading,
and I bet you will be as eager as I am to try it the next moment after I first saw “it”.
Well, what I am gonna show you is the talk of the town now!

I’m quite sure that with the absolute convenient 62353535 hotline,
we seldom dine in at Pizza Hut.
But guess what, I went for a lunch there last week,
other than the usual pizzas and spicy drumlets which are a must have there.
I was pretty amazed to find out that there were so much more choices on their menu!

I am always a fan of Italian cuisines,
and I bet a lot of you, being the same as me,
will be going around Singapore sourcing for good pizzas and pastas etc.
And well, just as you thought that Pizza Hut is only known for its pizzas
and spicy drumlets (gosh yes, I love this!!!),
you are missing out the full spectrum of pastas, pizzas, salads, and the list goes on,
but well, you are totally missing out the latest on their Menu.

And there you go….

Parchment Pasta (Char-grilled Chicken), SGD 11.90

one of the latest creations by Pizza Hut.

I thought it looks real good even from the outside,
with the piping hot pasta wrapped neatly in the parchment paper.

Interesting and full of anticipation at the same time,
I can’t wait to unwrap it and get a taste of it!

Woooo, pasta perfetto~

Unwrapping it gently and slowly….

Poof! Looking at this,
I can totally remember the distinctive creamy aroma that welcomed me after opening it.
Just like myself, you are greeted with the carefully cooked char-grilled chicken pasta,
topped with generous fillings of mushrooms, sliced tender grilled chicken, red capsicum,
all accompanied with an absolutely smooth and tasty cream sauce.

Love this one because I am a HUGE FAN of cream pasta!
I know a couple of friends prefer non-cream pasta
because they feel that the whole bowl cream sauce is too much for them to take.
I do admit I face that same kinda problem even though creamy pasta
is always my top choice whenever I order pastas,
but I do feel jelat (sick) on the taste bud after eating near half of it.

As true as it is,
a couple of us shared the same sentiments,
and agreed that the char-grilled chicken parchment pasta is cooked in a mild-cream sauce.
certainly a just-right but not too much taste for us cream-pasta lovers!
I am quite particular about the texture of the pasta,
and hate it when its overcooked.
Maybe you think it sounds too good to be true,
but the pasta texture of this was superb, and “al dente” is the word.
Did I mention they are not stingy with the pasta portion too?

Satisfied US!

Like what I have mentioned, many of my friends prefer non creamy pasta,
and of course, Pizza Hut will not leave out the non creamy pasta lovers!

Parchment Pasta (Spicy Seafood), SGD 12.90.

What can I say more?
Spot the huge juicy prawns, muscles and squids tossed in an excessive tomato spicy sauce,
and the aroma of this upon opening is just as welcoming as the creamy one.
I thought that the sauce was brilliant,
and the fresh seafood ingredients are immersed in the sauce,
making them exceptionally satisfying and tasty at the same time.

Though I’m a cream fan, but I am a SPICE FAN too!
I am glad that they go all out with the spice,
not too hot that is tongue burning, but a great pleasure for spice-lovers yo!

I would really suggest that you guys try both flavours,
go with a group or order one each of different flavours with your partners,
you have to gotta at least try it once.

and you will be…..swoon.  ;)

A hungry woman is an angry woman.
Look at how smiley we are, gee.

Food choices do not stop here,
with so many new choices they have in their menu,
we got ourselves more food to enjoy.

A new addition too, the Seafood Tofu Salad, SGD 6.90 for a generous serving.

Tossed together with a good mixture or the bouncy delicious sweet tofu,
and I like the crispy noodles that came with it as well.
Pour in their tangy sweet and sour sauce, purrrfect!

Next up is one of my cravings (for now!! And its 1AM in the morning).

The Juicy and tender riblets, SGD 5.80 for 4 HUGE servings.
Calling out to chicken meat lovers,
since all of us are swoon by Pizza Hut’s spicy drumlets,
I am sure you know this is just as good.
The drumlets are huge, and accompanied by a layer of crispy marinated skin,
not too thick and not too thin,
just the right amount of batter for you to enjoy the juicy tender meat of the wings.
It tasted a bit like the prawn paste chicken (love it!) and smells good too,
You will love it.

Emerald Sparkle Cooler, SGD 3.80
My refeshing apple soda with apple bits to quench my thirst.

Turkey Bacon Carbonara, $8.90

Take pleasure in the satiny smooth taste of linguine doused with cheesy cream sauce accompanied by baked turkey bacon and fresh button mushrooms
Not one of the latest creations, but is known to be a hot favourite of many dining in!

Pep ‘N’ Spice Pasta, $6.20

Fiery black pepper chicken, savoury shiitake mushrooms and spaghetti tossed with coarse black pepper and roasted garlic for a little bit of punch in every bite

Similar to Aglio Olio, but  this has a rich taste of pepper and sprinkled with chicken chunks.
Just the same, love the way they cooked the pasta,
the texture is just awesome.

of course, most girls always have space for desserts,
that’s true.

Banana chocolate Mousse Cake (A tale of 2 Temptations)

Cheese-brownie cake. (A tale of 2 Temptations)

A tale of two temptations, served together at just SGD 5.50,
you get to enjoy the best of both worlds.
Strong rich taste that  will never fail you, dessert lovers.
J

And here comes the best part,
just as you thought desserts at desserts

Their Warm Chocolate Cake With Ice Cream, SGD 6.50.

I swear it’s a MUST-TRY!
Once you have a mouthful, you can’t stop.

It’s an absolute favourite of each and everyone of us,
and I actually think it’s a good idea to just dine in for tea time
to enjoy a piece of this warm chocolate cake, sipping on to a cup of hot tea.
Perfect.

If you are looking at dining there, and planning what to eat,
check out their extensive range of food choices HERE.

It’s time to get your stomach filled with good food!

CMPB, not that CMPB

The August babies got together on a friday night to have a simple celebration at CMPB @ Dempsey.
When the guys were first told about the venue,
it was pretty shocking for them because they thought of the government CMPB than the bar and restaurant one. :p

I would think CMPB @ Dempsey is a good place for chill outs,
drinks over pizzas, fries/chips (the chips with mash is a must-have).
And if you dont mind feeling a tad warm,
the outside seats are better, I feel.

Both waffle and brownie that were awfully delicious.

The August babies

Duck pizza with loads of mushrooms.
I thought the wyagu beef pizza there was better.

Mushroom creamy pasta.

The outside seating area.

Sake Mojito, the girls' drinks.

I'm super loving the black/white blazer manufactured by Haute Hangers.
Love every single bits of this jacket,
from the slightly structured puff shoulder design, to the cool lil gold bow pin. :)

The ladies of the night

The group shot.

What's better than just pulling over a shirt dress in a cool dusty pink shade for the weekends,
makes moving around exceptionally comfortable, and not looking too casual at the same time.
Me like!
